New England Wedding Venues That Are a Photographer’s Dream

Being a wedding photographer is such an amazing - and gratifying - profession. And it’s taken us to some of the most beautiful venues in the region. We’ve had the privilege to capture memories from the coastlines to the mountains. And our weddings have taken us from unique urban locales to pastoral farms. Here are some of our favorite New England wedding venues that are a photographer’s dream.

Portland wedding venues

We’ve been to such an amazing assortment of Maine wedding venues, especially in the Portland area. The city’s vibe lends itself well to an urban wedding. And Portland offers a lot of entertainment and activities for your out-of-town guests.

Portland City Hall

Portland, ME

Intimate weddings of up to 50 are welcome weekdays after 4:30 and weekends. There’s a large, stately room with Victorian energy that lends itself to beautiful photos. A 3-hour ceremony/reception rental is only $500 and that even includes tables and chairs.

What we love: There’s something about the iconic feel of the grand staircase that gives our couples’ images a timeless quality. The steps leaving City Hall just always seem to provide the right background for joyful images and it doesn’t that you’re right in the heart of the city which lends itself to a lot of beautiful city views.

Ocean Gateway

Portland, ME

Located on Portland’s historic waterfront, this stunning glass enclosed venue provides spectacular views of the bay. The expansive patio works well for ceremonies and cocktails and the large, open floor plan of the indoor space can definitely accommodate large guest lists.

What we love: Sunset on the deck is the perfect spot for romantic newlywed photos. And this venue works well for both daytime and evening weddings. It’s a waterside gem.

Maine Craft Distilling

Portland, ME

New England couples who enjoy superior craft beverages and are looking for an urban reception vibe should check out this distillery. Outside you’ll find artwork on the walls that makes a one-of-a-kind background for cocktail hour.

What we love: With its interesting aesthetic, the barrel room is a very cool location for getting ready or for the first look moment. And the outside artwork makes for modern wedding party photos.

Rising Tide Brewery

Portland, ME

Combine this popular brewery’s East Room with a tented patio for a fun-filled wedding reception. The large garage doors are opened to give a great flow to your event. In-house food and beverage make menu planning easy. Rising Tide is also a terrific spot to host a wedding party outing, rehearsal dinner or even departure brunch.

What we love: Those glass garage doors bring in plenty of light and the sliding barn doors make a nice photo backdrop. And the space works well with pretty much any theme or color scheme.

Greater Maine wedding venues

If you’re looking for a different feel for your Maine wedding, we also love these locations

Falmouth Country Club

Falmouth, ME

Just minutes from downtown Portland, the tented Outdoor Pavilion invokes wedding elegance. There’s also a spacious clubhouse with an adjoining deck. Falmouth’s picturesque setting provides romantic outdoor images. Accommodating up to 300 guests, Falmouth provides full-service wedding receptions.

What we love: The putting green makes an ideal ceremony location that’s just steps from the Outdoor Pavilion. And it’s always a good time with our couples in the golf cart, scouting for the best photo locations.

The Red Barn at Outlook Farm

South Berwick, ME

South of Portland and only an hour from Boston, this barn venue combines classic New England style with modern conveniences and comfortably accommodates 200 guests. Overlooking Links at Outlook Golf Course, this coastal Maine wedding venue gives guests stunning views and beautiful sunsets. The all-weather veranda works well for cocktail hour. And there are nearby accommodations at Red Barn’s sister inns.

What we love: The barn vibe lends itself well to festive wedding receptions. And the full service planning takes a lot off our couples so they can just enjoy the day. Stress-free couples make great pictures!

Other New England Venues for beautiful wedding photos

As New England photographers, we’re available for weddings throughout Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. And we also travel for wedding weekends in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Castle Hill Resort and Spa

Proctorsville, VT

The stone mansion and adjacent lawns and gardens of this resort, which can accommodate events up to 250, give an air of elegance to wedding ceremonies and receptions. And you can make it a wedding weekend - the resort offers 10 beautifully appointed rooms and there are also 2 and 3-bedroom condos. On-site food and beverage can handle every aspect of your wedding, from rehearsal dinner and reception to guest departure brunch.

Toad Hill Farm

Franconia, NH

If you really want to get back to nature as part of your wedding weekend, Toad Hill Farm provides the perfect White Mountains setting. Say your vows with them in the background and then head to a tented reception. The Main House sleeps up to 16 - just right for a wedding party. And couples are free to design their weddings as they please when it comes to catering and other vendors.

What we love: The weddings we photograph have a rustic, yet refined, quality. And by renting the farm from Thursday afternoon to Monday noon, you have plenty of time for the ultimate farm wedding weekend.

Lambs Hill

Beacon, NY

This intimate mountainside wedding venue, with its stunning panoramic views of the Hudson River Valley, is the perfect choice for elopements and micro weddings for up to 50 guests. Say your “I Do’s” on the lawn and then enjoy cocktails by the infinity pool and deck. The event barn is a combination of rustic with modern luxury. And you’re sure to enjoy the secluded Equestrian Suite for wedding weekend accommodations.

What we love: The mountain scenery and incredible Hudson Valley sunsets make romantic backdrops for wedding photos. And the intimacy of the weddings held there really allows us to capture every precious moment.

We’ve become familiar with so many incredible New England wedding venues. Each one presents a unique opportunity to tell a story. Please take a few minutes to look at our work and then let’s talk about telling your love story.
